About Workplace Mental Health Assessment
An independent, reader-supported guide for the people who shape working conditions: HR teams, managers, owners and benefits leads.
What we do
Most employers now accept that mental health belongs on the agenda. Far fewer know where their own organization stands, or which handful of changes would make the biggest difference. This site exists to close that gap with three things: a free organizational self-check, a set of key areas with practical 90-day actions, and a growing library of in-depth guides on assessment, burnout, policy, benefits and hybrid work.
Independence
We are not affiliated with any professional association, insurer, employee assistance provider, screening company or employer, and we do not sell assessments, training or software. This web address was used by a different project in the past; the current site has no connection with it and does not continue its work. Resources are listed because they meet our selection criteria, never because someone paid.
How we write
- We attribute facts and figures to their source in the text, and prefer primary sources – public health agencies, standards bodies and peer-reviewed research.
- We separate evidence from opinion and say when the evidence is thin.
- Examples and scenarios are illustrations, clearly framed as such, not disguised case studies.
- We correct mistakes promptly. If you find one, please tell us.
What this site is not
Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and the self-check is a planning tool, not a clinical or validated survey instrument. Employees with concerns about their own health should talk to a doctor, their employee assistance program or a licensed professional. In a crisis in the US, call or text 988.
Our writers

Dana Whitfield
Dana spent fifteen years in HR leadership at a mid-sized manufacturer and a regional health system before moving into writing. She covers policy, accommodations and the conversations managers find hardest to start.

Marcus Oyelaran
Marcus comes from people analytics, where he built engagement and wellbeing surveys for distributed workforces. He writes about assessment design, psychosocial risk and measuring whether programs actually work.

Priya Raman
A former employee-benefits consultant, Priya focuses on access to care: EAPs, health-plan networks, parity and the everyday friction that keeps people from getting help they are entitled to.

Elena Brooks
Elena has reported on remote and hybrid work since before it was mainstream. She looks at how schedules, tools and team habits shape wellbeing when colleagues rarely share a room.

Tom Kessler
Tom ran warehouse and retail teams for close to two decades. He writes about burnout, shift work and frontline realities from the point of view of the supervisor who has to make the rota work.
